Botox® at the dentist: what to expect
Botox® treatment can be performed in the comfort of our office. It is a generally quick and easy process and patients will receive a topical anesthetic for comfort. Dr. Keech will meet with you first to discuss your aesthetic goals and to ensure that Botox® is the right solution. The injections are placed using an ultra thin needle, and the process is completed in about 15 minutes. Patients may feel a slight pinchas the injection is placed but there is typically no lingering discomfort.
After treatment, you may notice redness or feel mild swelling at the injection sites. This will dissipate in a day or two as the results begin to emerge. It can take up to two weeks to see the full effect of your treatment.
How does Botox work?
Botox is a botulinum toxin that is purified for safe injection into the skin. The neurotoxin works to reduce the visibility of lines and wrinkles in the skin by relaxing the underlying muscles. This results in a smoother appearance overall.
How long does Botox last?
The effects of treatment with Botox last around 6 months. Patients can conveniently coordinate their Botox treatments with routine bi-annual dental care visits. This enables us to evaluate your results and touch-up needs on a timely basis.
How many injections do I need?
Dr. Keech will evaluate your cosmetic needs and recommend the appropriate number of injections during your initial consultation.
